Psychotherapy
A decision to commit to growth, change, and creating more of our own happiness and fulfillment is often not an easy one. However, from professional and personal experience, I can say that it is a thoroughly worthwhile undertaking and one that I would be glad to partner in with you.
I have years of eclectic training, though I draw most from psychoanalytic & psychodynamic psychology. The focus in this kind of therapy is on the individual - their thoughts, emotions, anxieties, wishes, memories, imaginings, bodily experiences, actions, choices - and aims to remove barriers to having a fuller, more satisfying life. Often, a person enters therapy with me when any one or cluster of the following are restricting their ability to live as they would like:
Difficult transitions and challenging life circumstances;
anxiety and/or depression;
overwhelming emotions that are difficult to manage;
feeling stuck, conflicted, overwhelmed;
desire to be more creative, authentic, effective;
relationship difficulties or simply a desire to derive more satisfaction and enjoyment from relationships;
grief and loss;
intrusions by painful remnants of the past.
While what brings each person into therapy is different, the goal is not: to reduce distress, generate positive, lasting change, and improve your connection with yourself and others. I am currently offering teletherapy to individuals in Maryland and Oregon.
Feel free to contact me for a consultation to discuss any questions or interests.

A note on use of health insurance:
I currently accept the following plans:
WellFleet/CIGNA (for Johns Hopkins University Students)
Johns Hopkins Employee Health Plan (EHP)
For all other plans, I am considered an out-of-network mental health provider. However, your insurance plan may allow you to submit reimbursement claims. To determine whether your insurance company reimburses for payments made to my practice, ask if you have “out-of-network benefits” for outpatient mental health or behavioral health services and, if so, at what percentage you will be reimbursed for each session. I will provide you with the necessary paperwork to receive reimbursement.
You might also decide not to use your insurance. When you decide not to use your insurance we are not required to divulge personal information about your treatment and progress with any insurance company, which protects your privacy and leaves you with ultimate control over your treatment. When using your insurance company has legal access to your protected health information (PHI) they sometimes get to make decisions about how long you can stay in treatment. When you decide not to use insurance we are able to decide together what is adequate.
